11-13-20 - Message to Parents and Families:
Governor Little held a Press Conference today to announce he is putting the state back into a modified Stage II due to increasing numbers of Covid cases and the limitations placed upon hospital capacity. He sounded concerned. Part of his conditions are limitations of gatherings to 10 people or fewer, but it doesn't pertain to businesses, churches, or schools. He stated: Schools are controlled environments and they remain safe places to work and learn, when protocols are followed.
We will continue to monitor our situation on a daily basis. At this time we will continue with our current schedule. It is likely that regulations around sporting events may be altered. The Governor stressed the importance of mask wearing and keeping social distances.
This information will be of great concern to many. Our health and well-being is important and I believe we are safer in our schools than in other public places.
Please continue to wear masks, keep safe distances when possible, and wash your hands. There is now evidence that masks protect both the wearer and those around the wearer. I thank my staff for being role models for wearing masks. And, YOU are appreciated for supporting us.
Nancy Larsen, KSD Superintendent
Parents are asked to screen children for any Covid symptoms EVERY MORNING before sending them to school or on the bus. If your child has symptoms please keep them home that day and call the office to report their absence.
On July 1, 2016, the Idaho Office of School Safety and Security (IOSSS) was created within the Division of Building Safety (DBS). The responsibilities of IOSSS are set forth in Title 33 Chapter 58 (59), Idaho Code and we hope you will view IOSSS as an asset to your district in our combined effort to enhance the safety and security of the students and staff of our educational institutions statewide.
